Official: Healthcare Ministry, watchdog can set drug prices in 2020

GORKI, Moscow Region, Dec 16 (PRIME) -- The Russian Healthcare Ministry and the Federal Antimonopoly Service will obtain the right to reduce prices for medicines in 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said on Monday at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

“The Healthcare Ministry and the Federal Antimonopoly Service are given the powers to revise and reduce registered prices on their own without requests from claimants or from the owners of registration certificates if they registered these prices previously,” she said.

The government will also lift an obligation for cheap medicines with the price of below 100 rubles, vaccines, narcotic and psychotropic medicines produced by countries of the Eurasian Economic Union to be re-registered in Russia, she said.

The authorities also plan to introduce state registration for medicines in dosages for children. “We expect the introduction of this regime to stimulate production and natural accessibility of medicines for children,” Golikova said.
